Interior design store for your home

Day-Shop is overflowing with personal products

The Day interior design store is on the corner of the delightfully nostalgic and refined Bulevardi and the lively and busy Fredrikinkatu shopping street. The store has a total of nine display windows on the two streets and they are chock-full of the products that Day is known for. Day has already served shoppers and interior designers at this site with its own personal style for around 18 years. The founding couple Nina Rantanen and Pasi Sivonen bring new trends to Finnish consumers.

Day has always sold products which reflect the spirit of the time: at the start there were products like inflatable furniture and sofas - brightly coloured or transparent - which were a real hit for a few years and people even came from different parts of Finland to buy them at Day. Bead curtains, disco balls and the original British Mathmos lava lamps, which sold in huge quantities, belonged to the same era.

Kauniste fabrics from young designers

Kauniste has opened a store in the Helsinki design quarter, at Uudenmaankatu 27. In addition to products and fabrics, the shop also display the work of young designers in the store. Kauniste was founded in the summer of 2008 in Vallila in Helsinki. A goal was to combine the skills of young designers and craftspeople and create fresh designs with a traditional silk-printing method. We work to create products that can be used and cherished even after decades.

Our products are printed with water-based, solvent-free colours. We avoid unnecessary wastage of water in production. We use a cotton-linen mix fabric because linen makes the fabric durable and both absorbs moisture and dries well. Very little surplus waste is created in the production of linen and the properties of the fibre only improve with time.
